TURKISH DELIGHT

What inspired the name of the band? What are your influences?

Our drummer had just gone to Turkey on vacation and he had eaten the typical dessert: The
Baklava. When he came back from the trip, we were thinking about the name of the
band and he changed the name of the Turkish dessert in “ The Blacklava” and
everyone liked how it sounded. We have all four different influences! For the band the main influences are Blackstone Cherry, Audioslave, Royal Blood!

How do you approach songwriting? Are there any themes that you are keen to explore when you start off?

From 2014 to today I create the basic Riff and the vocal line. Sometimes at home but most
of the time while we do Jam. The initial vocal line has many fake words but it is to
understand the melody. If I like the melody and the song has grit then it goes to the next
stage: The arrangement. This phase is in common with everyone and we do it both in our
rehearsal and in the studio, we are lucky because our guitarist Francesco has a recording
studio!

MINE

Why do you write the sort of music that you do?

It’s what I like to do! It is the one thing that I feel is mine and that gives me emotions. I had some
bands and I still have an individual project with which I make other genres. What I do with
The Blacklava has started so it is still evolving according to our tastes!

How do you decide what songs to perform live and how do you transpose them into a live setting?

We choose the songs based on the place in which we go to play and on the basis of the
bands we go with! So we do acoustic shows where we can’t mess, we make the songs
more energetic when we play with metal bands. In short, we adapt.

WHAT WORKS

CREATIVE

What plans do you have for the future?

Difficult to say in this period. We have been in Forced Lockdown since March 10th and I
suppose it will take much longer to return to play on the premises. At the moment we are
very active on social networks and we are trying to change the way we think and we are
very creative
