Well we mainly work by trying to play the idea that’s in our hearts and heads first and rise to the challenge of making that happen on the instrument, rather than jamming out together in rehearsal. It usually starts with guitar, then drums, then bass, then vocals. But the whole process is quite open minded so it could have elements at any point including jammed elements. We usually have a few feelings ideas about the direction we want to pursue, but the music is paramount in fleshing out that detail, we don’t like to shoehorn ideas onto the music just for the sake of it. We try to let it find the way before we dive into the detail of its theme or specific wording.
I guess it’s very important to us to be real and true to how we feel. That way whatever the journey asks of us around bringing the music out there’s no regrets about the personal sacrifice to do that. Ultimately, we want to make something that’s a worthwhile contribution to the collective canon of heavy music, and that’s the only way we know how to do it.
