“The Wooden Walls,”kicks off this new album by Northwind. It is a phenomenal opening song. Veering between complexity, simplicity and downright danger. A song that delivers the goods and ensures that the listener is completely hooked.

“King Alexander The Third,” a song about the legendary Macedonian King, is just as legendary. It gallops, it shines, it turns. The song tells the story of the legendary King and ensures that the listener is fully engaged throughout. Northwind truly have delivered here.

“Soldier’s Pay,” batters the listener into the dust, demanding payment and retribution for causes long gone.

“My Dying Day,” cuts loose and sharpens the blackened sun into madness. Delivering a crushing blow to all sensibilities.

“First Shot,” rolls with the punches. Northwind have found a pretty good rhythm here, slowly shifting the tenor and pulse of proceedings to hit the right stride.

“Marathon March,” moves with a frenetic energy, determined to deliver the goods and never let go.

“Pyrrhos The Eagle,” shreds from the get go. Some of the notes that are unleashed on the listener are simply out of this world. Brilliant from Northwind.

“Aristodemus the Hero.” takes the road to becoming something new and inspiring. The song narrates the story of the ancient and proud, it shreds and it burns a hole in the new schema.

“Cry Free-Die Free,” slows things down slightly. The acoustic melodies play out and ensure that the listener knows just where they’re going. Things gradually speed up and become heavier, developing the crushing sensibilities of old.

“The Dog,” goes old school. A fantastic dip into the new.

The album is out on 29th May via No Remorse Records.
