TWO ENGLISH TOWNS

What inspired the name of the band and what are your influences?

It was not really an inspiration but the result in the search of a made-up word. I wanted a unique label to name the project so that it would be easier to find when you google it. The name Maidon is formed by the first and last syllable of the name of two English towns.

How do you approach songwriting? Are there any themes that you are keen to explore when you start off?

I normally write the music in the first instance and just focus on coming up with a really good thing. When I hum and sing nonsense to find a melody I sometimes say something with sense and in a few occasion I have included that idea on the lyrics content. However, as I said music comes first for me and then, depending on the mood I am or what I have in my mind at that moment, I try to write the right lyrics. It is important to say that it hardly ever happens at the first attempt or in one go.

FRESH TOUCH

Why do you write the sort of music that you do?

That has a very solid explanation; it is the kind of music I have been listening to since I was a child. I would describe my music as a mix of everything that has been an influence to me up to date. Nevertheless, I always try to give every composition a fresh touch and introduce new sound elements.

How do you decide what songs to perform live and how do you transpose them into that live setting?

The project is quite new and both myself  and my close collaborator, guitarist Ivan Pela have mainly put all the focus on the song writing, a careful production and a very professional recording. So far there are 10 tracks out there in on digital platforms, so it is not necessary to make any decision in which songs to perform live at the moment.

WHAT WORKS

MAKE A LIVING

What plans do you have for the future?

Our plan is very clear, we would like to thrive in this business and end up being able to make a living in music. We are going to carry on writing songs, working properly to get an even better sound and trying to reach as many people as possible. But one thing is what you plan and another thing what it really turns out, let’s hope both things coincide this time.
