RECORD DEAL
What inspired the formation of the band?
The band was formed due to a bad record deal that our old band, Inception To Embrace, got. To get out of that situation and to keep releasing our music, we basically had to create a new band. Thus Leading Light was formed.
How do you approach songwriting and how has that approach changed over time?
It’s always different. Most of the time, I show an idea or a whole song and the other members give their touch to the song. I can hear a sound on the TV or a song on the radio and that can spark an idea.

Where do you seek inspiration for songs?
We don’t really listen to our genre of metal anymore. So now a days the inspiration comes from emotion. We try to really make the listener feel what the song is about. If the instrumental idea gives us anxiety, that’s probably what the song is going to be about and it’s something that I struggle a lot with myself.
Do you prefer performing live or in studio?
For me personally, live. I love hearing the results from the studio, but it can be very draining to play a specific part over and over again. Playing live is more about feeling and connecting with the audience and I love that.

How has coronavirus impacted you?
Our guitarist Linus lives in another town, so can’t really get the whole band together at the moment, for promo pics, music videos etc. Other than that, we got a couple of live shows cancelled.
