What inspired the name of the band? What are your influences and are they the same as when you started out?

god.i.am is my Solo Doom Metal project, and I’m based out of eastern NC, USA. I came up with the name god.i.am because I am the god of “my” world. I worship no others, and have no need to follow anyone. My musical influences are very old school, and from many different styles… though I copy no band and I emmulate no style but my own. There are some forms of music that I just can’t stand, but I like more types than I don’t. However, I am not a fan boy of any one band or any particular style of music. I intend on creating a unique form of Doom Metal through the originality that is god.i.am … I played all of the instruments on my Debut album, so there were no plug ins or computer programs used to generate sounds and/or tones. The instruments were recorded at a friends recording studio. I recorded the drums on my own drum kit, and I recorded all of my guitar work using ONLY my 5 string bass guitar. The bass guitar tone(s) that you hear are of my own development, and I only used 2 pedals to acheive them. This album was my first-ever attempt at recording vocals. I wanted them to come off as dark and mysterious like the overall make-up of the songs, so I just chose my own musical/vocal direction and fucking went for it! I feel like the whole album turned out precisely as I intended it to be…Raw and Unapologetic, Dark and Chaotic.

How and why do you approach songwriting?

Being that god.i.am consists of just me, I have a shit ton of artistic freedom, and songwriting actually comes easily for me. I always have music/lyric ideas flowing through my brainium, and most of the time I can put them together with ease. My debut album called “hanc aeternum, infinitum nihil 23.23” is an occult-themed Concept album about a young lady named Serenity that pushes the occult boundaries a little too far… and pays a heavy price for her carelessness. So topics and themes of a Dark and Occult nature are what I gravitate towards.

Because I am a child of the Void, and Darkness is what I know and love.
god.i.am music and lyrics suit my style of drum/guitar playing and my songwriting/arranging/vocal style, so it all works out well for me.

How do you decide what to play live?

Every song I write and record can also be played the same way live, so that’s never going to be an issue for me.

What plans do you have for the future?

I shall continue to keep writing and recording Doom Metal in my own, unique god.i.am style. I NEVER want to sound like anyone else, so always expect that sort of originality from god.i.am … I am also currently finalizing a Short Story that will compliment my Debut album’s theme and concept of Serenity’s journey, and her eventual collision with the Dark Netherworld that envelopes her. After that, I’ll begin work on follow up music and the accompanying Short Story to coincide with all of that.
Below will be my artist information and some song/social media links.
Expect more Raw and Unapologetic Chaos from the Darkness that is… god.i.am
