What inspired the name of the band? What are your influences and are they the same as when you started out?

Our name was a joke from the very start, as “artifex” translates to “artistic” in latin.

Influence wise we draw from various sources aside from various rock and metal bands. Movies, games, art and photography all affect our music and style a lot.

How and why do you write what you write?

Usually we start with a melody or a phrase that sticks and then build around that.

We tend to gravitate towards darker, yet catchy musical themes. For lyrics we find ourselves writing about mental health quite often but also other societal issues.

Most of us grew up during times where Rock and Nu-Metal was massive and mainstream and it was massively influential in our lives. The music we write is sort of an homage to the music we grew up with.

Live?

We try to match our live setlists with the other bands we perform with to have a more uniform sound. We tend to stick relatively close to the studio versions in the live setting with some small room for improvisations and fun.

Future?

We’re currently working on a few different things at the moment. Mainly writing new stuff and giving as many shows as possible.
