Iced Earth’s self titled debut album gets the reissue treatment for its 30th anniversary and the album sounds just as good now as it did then.

“Iced Earth,” the brutal opening track is searing and incredulous. The vocal lines soar and twist. The guitars gallop and snarl through the twisting frames of time. “Written On The Walls,” gets the mixture just right. Combining hard edged riffs with subtle and shimmering melodies to unleash the chaos. “Colors,” is a battering ram of a song, wrapped in a suitable cacophony of time and edged space. It unleashes the powerful relativity of time.

“Solitude,” slows things down. Bringing about a subtle realignment and allowing for thoughtfulness to grow. “Funeral,” is a darkened abode. Shimmering from one night to the next, it presses in amongst the darkened sundry portions of the world. “When The Night Falls,” is the epic finisher that shows just how promising Iced Earth were 30 years ago.

The remaster is out on 18th December via Century Media.
