Hyperion, the New Wave of Traditional Metal band from Italy have a new album coming out later this month entitled Into The Maelstrom and it is an album perfectly suited to these turbulent times.

“Into The Maelstrom,” the title track is an absolute ripper. A song that contains riffs which will blow the face off the most seasoned pro, and a lead that is unlike any other. There’s a real sense of fury and chaos within the song that its the title perfectly. Hyperion live up to their name potential with some seriously catchy melodies.

“Ninja Will Strike,” features some interesting dual guitar harmonies that slowly progress into a forewarning of chaos and plenty. As the song progresses, one gets the sense that Hyperion are telling the story of something both absurd and highly plausible.

“Driller Killer,” slowly shifts the dial, inching forward with every gathered breath, it turns the clock and pursues an interesting strategy. When the discordant riffs come flowing through the listener knows they’re in for a treat.

“The Maze of Polybius,” is a frenetic work, a song that gathers pace and eventually lets the sheer absurdity of what its trying to achieve take over. A perfectly executed song by Hyperion.

“From The Abyss,” works itself into being a model of good works and discordancy. The song truly captures some of that metal spirit that Hyperion so demand and it works perfectly because of it.

“Bad Karma,” works overtime to get the right feeling through, a song that turns and twists into a series of movements.

“Fall After Fall,” turns the screws ever so slightly, and develops a bit of a smashing mentality, which is quite fitting given the content of the song. Hyperion truly get into the groove here.

“The Ride of Heroes,” works into overtime, delivering something that to be put quite simply is epic.

“Bridge of Death,” moves into overdrive. Galloping along the way and developing some crucially needed time and change.
