What inspired the name of the band? What are your influences and are they the same as when you started out?

The name was inspired by our love of 1980s “hair metal” music that started on
the Sunset Strip in California. Because our influences span a wide range of
styles, it’s also an homage to bands like the Doors, the Byrds, Buffalo
Springfield, as well as the Sunset Strip of the 1950s. We simply love good
songs made my great musicians so our influences range from Warrant, Faster
Pussycat, Motley Crue, etc…to Jason Isbell and Taylor Swift. We’re always
listening for SONGS.

How do you approach songwriting?

Musically we usually start with a riff or musical idea and build from there. Thematically, our first EP was a concept album
ABOUT the 1980s Sunset Strip, so that directed us to subject matter. Our first full-length, “No Saints in the City” roughly dealt with NYC. Our latest,
“Breathe” is a little more personal. More individual stories and emotions in each song.

How do you decide what to play live.

Right now, Ghosts of Sunset is studio-based without a live touring line-up. When and if that time comes, my partner Todd and I have been performing live for over 35 years, so we both have the skillset to adjust arrangements and create textures to mimic instrumentation that might no be
available to us in a live setting.

What plans do you have for the future?

Continue promoting our latest single “Afterthought” and our full-length album “Breathe”. Currently we have one completed track for our next album and a couple more in their early stages. We just want to keep finding and connecting with fans of this music.
