“Ælfscýne ,” kicks things off, slowly building into something more majestic and magnificent.

“Wayfarer’s Eve,” is the true beginning of the album, set to the backdrop of an impressive guitar arrangement that blends together the furiosity of the ages with a hint of melody. Add in the vocals and you’ve got a real spellbinding opener here.

“The Midnight Folk,” is an absolute rager. A song with that many juicy riffs should be illegal. The melodies just fly off the guitars into the listener’s eager ears.

“Relics,” is dark and foreboding with just a hint of something at the end of the tunnel that would bring joy. The guitars are on form throughout, and the band sounds tight.

“Avalon Rising,” is simply epic. A song that takes command and turns the world through on its edge and delivers a knocking blow.

“Oak, Ash and Thorn,” the title track is something out of this world. It mixes melody, heaviness, subtly and bombastic tones to produce a song that is fitting of the name and the old English attitudes it conjures up.

“The Woodlander,” turns and twists through the line. Slowly mixing subtle and bombastic together to produce something quite incredible.

“Eadric’s Return,” another song that simply flies off the handle and pushes the whirlwind through into being. A song that really shines and will get people going when performed live.

“Heart of the Rose,” is a fitting closer. A song that allows the listener to truly digest everything that has come before.

The album is out on 24th April via Cruz Del Sur Music. Do yourself a favour and get this album!
