What inspired the name of the band? What are your influences and are they the same as when you started out?

Our name came from a weekend spent on our good friends narrow boat in which it
happened to be the worst storm in decades and it didn’t stop raining. Felt a little bit
like Noah’s arc, and as a result we stayed in playing card games and called ourselves
Slomo Casino. We love a mix of old school rock and soul with everything from the
Stones to Cat Stevens, Otis Redding to Bill Withers.

How do you approach songwriting?

We often start with a melodic idea or a chord progression and allow that feeling to
influence the direction of the lyrical content. Our policy is that it has to stand on its
own with just acoustic guitar and vocals which needs to be something that excites us.

Why do you write the music that you do?

Simply put, it’s what makes us feel good. We don’t overthink what we make and let
our ears guide us to where the songs end up. An unfinished song is also like an itch
that needs a good scratching

How do you decide what to perform live?

We want the set to feel like a bit of a journey so we do choose the songs based on
how that set as a whole will come across to the audience. Aside from that, we like to
stay pretty true to the record and as a 4 piece live set up we’re able to do that pretty
well!
