What inspired the name of the band? What are your influences and are they the same as when you started out?

King Fabbs is a nickname I picked up when I was in high school for a little bit. It eventually turned into my Instagram name and then when I decided to go solo I felt it was just the perfect name to use!
I listen to a lot of music so I have a ton of influences. Green Day was the band that really introduced me to the world of punk. The first song I heard from them was American Idiot and I still remember the feeling it gave me and it immediately changed my taste in music. Other than Green Day some of my other favourite bands and artists are State Champs, Paramore, Mariana’s Trench, Slipknot, Seaway, Foo Fighters, Stand Atlantic, Hot Milk, Twenty one Pilots, The Story So Far, Linkin Park and many more!

How do you approach songwriting? Are there any themes that you are keen to explore when you start off?

I always like to write the instrumental first when I start writing a song. It’s the way I’ve always done it and it’s what I’m most used too. As soon as I have a riff or a chord progression that pops in my head, I do whatever I have to do to remember it and that’s usually by making a voice memo on my phone. I also make sure to never discredit any idea that I come up with because any idea can turn into something great. When it comes to writing lyrics I usually always write about personal things and I write about how I’m feeling. I like to put my honesty into my music.

Why do you write the sort of music that you do?

I absolutely love the music that I write. I’ve been into Pop punk for years and I find that there’s so much emotional connection to be made in the music. I feel like I can really pour my emotions into my writing and I feel really comfortable doing that in this genre of music. I write this kind of music because I find it really speaks to my personality and my character a lot and I’m just completely in love with this style of music! It’s super fun and energetic, you can get a little crazy and party to it. But then it’s also filled with so many songs that get really personal and those songs can just completely strip you of your emotions. I see so many people connecting with those deeper songs and they really see the value within this genre that a lot of other people miss out on.

How do you decide what songs to perform live and how do you transpose them into that live setting?

I always think about what songs are going to be the most fun for the audience and I build a setlist based off of that. I want to make sure my audience is entertained and I want them to remember me when they see me live. I find playing a few covers of some popular songs can really make an impact and it can create a really nice vibe during the show. I have not done a whole lot of live shows as of yet but of course I’m planning and working on getting more shows lined up!

What plans do you have for the future?

My plans right now are to release my next single about a month from now. I also have a music video for my song Safe and Sound on the way and I will be working on more music video’s! Looking into 2022 I of course will release more music and I’m also looking to get started on my first full length album!
