An interview with Ironbourne

An interview with Ironbourne

What inspired the name of the band? What are your influences?

The name inspires from the honouring of our forefathers and their hard work in the mines that are literally everywhere in the surroundings of our daily lives, if you ever been down a mine, imagine the same place with just a torch of fire , and very hard work.   As we all live in the same rural town, and discovered that we basically had the same preference in music, the step into the same rehearsal room was a match we believed in.

How do you approach songwriting?

It is done in different ways, sometimes anyone of us can come up with a whole song, and the others just have to play it according to their way of playing (sometimes pretty frustrating  for the inventor ) and other times it is simply a riff or a beat that we find appealing, and the song builds while we are rehearsing. As the lyrics are much inspired by local history, but not always.

Lyrics or music comes from all of us, and we want the band as a unit to be noted as authors

Has the pandemic impacted your approach to writing and recording?

After more than a year with the plague it certainly affected all of us, but maybe not with writing and recording, rather that it infected our minds with all the distancing.

We take the opportunity to write new songs, and make us prepared for when the restrictions are lifted.

What’s your favourite song on the record and why?

That is near impossible to say, when we get the feeling while playing live, it can be anyone of them, it is more depending on the state of mind of the audience and ourselves.   We hope that becomes more clear when people listen to us. Do you have a favourite ?

What plans do you have for the future?

We are so grateful, but also humble for all the attention we get by the reviews.  The short time plan is to seize the moment, and in the times of lockdown, get airtime and reviews, but when it is lifted, be ready for whatever comes in the path of playing live, and other live promotion.  Playing live is of course the main reason for inspiration.
