What inspired the name of the band? What are your influences and are they the same as when you started out?
When somebody asks us this question, we usually ask: what do you think about it yourself? Even though the name is very meaningful (especially if you know that we have the same name song), we want to provide an opportunity for our listeners to think up on this topic. For some, it will sound like a girl’s name, for others like a girl with red hair. And if you are a deep diver into the old English language, you can find several more interpretations of this name. And all this will be partly true.
It is almost impossible to list everything that influenced us. We love classical music, pop and rock music from the 50s and 60s, and rock’n’roll. As for more modern music, maybe rock of the 90s is the biggest influence since we grew up in this era.
How do you approach songwriting?
Most of our songs are absolutely real our experiences. And we think it’s a little old to write about something you’ve never experienced. Sometimes these events happen in the lives of our friends. And it touches us so much that we could not help but write about it. For example, I (Tanya) struggled with depression for a long time. So this is one of the main themes of my songs. Probably, in order to write something sincere, you need to pass this topic through the prism of your consciousness.
Why do you write the music that you write?
It’s hard to explain. It happens by itself. We never wanted to make too heavy music. But the same time not too electronic. We want music to be live, that is why we are trying to use real guitars and drums. We also want to add some touch of 21st century with electronic sequence. Everything else (melody, lyrics, the whole songs) just come to mind by themselves. But we allow ourselves to be creative when it comes to arranging. And then the real fun comes.
How do you decide what to perform live?
Probably the most established songs. Tbh we played of our songs live. But some of them didn’t sound good live even though they sound good recorded. It’s hard to explain. All musicians should be connected with the songs they play live. They should feel the song. Then perhaps this song will sound amazing for the whole audience.
What plans do you have for the future?
We are in the process of creating a new album. So our short-term plan is to finish the album at least. And what we really want is to make the tour after release, at least a small one. And we would love to attend some festivals as well, especially in Europe. So we can say those are our plans. But maybe we should not plan too much. The last time when we planned our tour corona happened. So we just live here and now 🙂
