What inspired the name of the band? What are your influences and are they the same as when you started out?

‘Falling Giant’ can mean a lot more than just the funny story behind it.

We were undecided on two names, Act One and Falling Giant.

In the end, asking for an opinion from those who just don’t know about music, we were told Act One, so we then opted for Falling Giant.

The falling giant is a very powerful image.

The collapse of an empire, the collapse of humanity or something divine, such as a falling angel or a dispossessed god.

Coming from Rome we also connect the image to the statue of the colossus that was present near the Colosseum in ancient times.

It has a very powerful esoteric and literary meaning, that’s why we like it.

Our reference giants, on the other hand, are various.

Each member of the band has his idols, his inspirations. We are all children of alternative metal and its many facets.

Who comes from more hardcore plays, who from a punk scene and who from Metal.

We have tried to combine our musical tastes in what we create. And the variety leads us to experimentation.

How do you approach songwriting?

The method used in writing and composition is always very varied.

Sometimes we start with a riff, other times with a melody, sometimes with an idea or a message.

Very often we let ourselves be enlightened by literary ideas.

We love to look for inspiration in books, movies, poems and mythology.

We like to deal with the subject of contrasts. Love and hate. Life and death. Holy and damned.

The main theme of each piece is the fight with one’s inner demons in the search for light.
And it is precisely by touching the darkness that the light is known, and vice versa.

Why do you write what you do?

It is an uncontrollable impulse.

Creating art and wanting to live from it.

It’s like writing poetry in multiple languages. Because beyond the spoken and sung language there are more ancestral languages, such as that of rhythm and melody.

How do you decide what to perform live?

For now we are lucky to have composed a number of songs that fit perfectly into an hour of live, the most complex thing is to choose the type of lineup to propose.

It depends on the place, the club, who we open or if we are headlining or who we play for.

Whenever we create a song inevitably when we rehearse it in the hall we immediately think about how it could be live. We compose in function of presenting our product to people. The ultimate goal is always to play live.

What plans do you have for the future?

We are in the studio recording our second album. It is a very ambitious work and will be full of theatrical, dark, romantic and melodic pieces.

We are putting our truth into this project.

With our managers Damian and Roberto we are working for the next concerts. There are a lot of things going on that will keep us busy in the coming months. We are delighted to have started this collaboration with deadfall management. They believe a lot in us and we believe in them. A great team has been created.
