MATURED

How has the band evolved over the past two decades in terms of musical style and approach?

I would say that we are better musicians overall now. The songwriting have widened and matured I would say. It just sounds more for real now than it did in the beginning allthough there is a certain charm to songs that are written more from a beginners point of view. In the beginning I think it was more about just coming up with cool ideas and hoping that they would fit than actually having a plan from the beginning.

What was different about recording your upcoming album compared to other releases?

I would say all our recording sessions have went really smoothly and are quite similar to each other. Although for this time around we did feel slightly more un-rehearsed. The recording went smoother and faster than ever, I can´t really get that equation to sum up really. Maybe we had a more relaxed attitude this time and just let it come naturally with no pressure.

REJOICE THE ADORNED

Are there any songs on the new album that you’re particularly looking forward to listeners
discovering, if so why?

I must say that the ballad “Rejoice the adorned” is a personal favourite for me, I just hope that the fans can look beyond the lack of distortion and double bass drums and actually enjoy a great laid back song. It is just so beautiful, Mathias voice really shines on that one.

How has the coronavirus impacted your plans to promote the new record?

Not at all. We decided to stop playing live shows in 2015 just because we felt that the stage wasn’t really where we shined or longed for. I have always considered myself more of a song writer than a performer. As this album evolved I knew that it would be the last and final album for Falconer. It is just time to move on after 20 years and do something else. So the recording of the album was the last thing that we did as a band and that happened right before the outbreak of the virus.
