What inspired the name of the band? What are your influences?
My friend stayed up late drinking one night and tried to come up with good band names, she suggested The Instructions, I liked it!
Everything influences from me from Pussycat to Captain Beefheart, from rain sodden skies to sunny days.
How do you approach songwriting? Are there any themes that you are keen to explore when you start off?
No I just get melodies and put words that sound good to them.

Why do you write the sort of music that you do?
As of yet it is the way I know best.
How do you decide what songs to perform live and how do you transpose them into that live setting?
If I am doing solo shows I only do songs that will sound well with just me and guitar to ensure the song retains it’s essence.
