An interview with Dean England.

NAME

What inspired the name of the band? What are your influences?

So it’s my name I was thinking of changing it had having a stage name but it sound cool enough I think.. Dean England, it’s our country so I thought well let’s stick with that. My influences are wide, I love some of the obvious stuff. Clapton, Hendrix, Zeppelin and GnR there are all amazing and my hero’s. I also like soul old soul stuff. Sam Cooke can sing and I like some of the early Joss stone stuff too she can really hit a note. Being a blues guitarist too I would love to play with her.

How do you approach songwriting? Are there any themes that you are keen to explore when you start off?

Yeah sometimes I have something in my head I really want to write, however I find it doesn’t work that way. I honestly can’t control it ha! I picked up the guitar to write something the other day I had in my head and something completely different came out. It’s a case of being a channel for the flow of music I find. It’s better to let the song write itself. Nothing worse then trying to force it.

NATURAL

Why do you write the sort of music that you do?

I write what comes to me, what feel natural, what flows through my soul. It just is that way. Ok honestly try not to hold myself to a box of what I can and can’t write. If it’s feel good do it I say!

How do you decide what songs to perform live and how do you transpose them into that live setting?

Now that’s a good question. Some songs don’t work as well live don’t get me wrong I can do them it’s just for somethings I prefer the extra guitar tracks I can get in the studio. But all in all I play most of my stuff live. If I am going to cover something it’s got to have a spin on it. Originality is key when it comes to covers.

FEEL THINK DO

What plans do you have for the future?

At the moment I am promoting “Feel Think Do” it’s my new release and it’s going awesome so far. There’s always new music being written and new hopes for the future. We will see where the next album goes but for now I am focusing on as much coverage as possible. It’s out now on all major platforms so if you fancy a smooth bluesy acoustic rock album go buy it. Peace and love to you. Dean
