What inspired the name of the band? What are your influences and are they the same as when you started out?

It’s a colloquialism that many of us use, and it’s certainly something our lead vocalists call each other on a daily basis (they’re married incase you didn’t know!).

We draw a lot of influence from some of the best rock & pop bands from the 80’s. For example; Fleetwood Mac, The Police & Mr. Mister to name a few.

I would also say that we would consider bands like Paramore and Jimmy Eat World as the pioneers of the kind of sounds that we try to create.

How do you approach songwriting?

Our singer Dan writes a lot of our music late at night in his home studio, then we tend to go away and work off a demo individually to add things here and there until we meet a consensus that we’re all happy with.

Darlin songs, in a lot of cases, tend to be built around a drum pattern or melody that one of us is playing around with. Then Dan will take that and run with it until he creates something he wants to share with the rest of the band.

He’s a mysterious gentleman.

Why do you write the sort of music that you do?

We’re all of an age now where we know what we like, and we try to make music that speaks to us and our tastes.

If we like it, we can be proud of it, and if other people like it, that’s a bonus.

How do you decide what to perform live?

Currently we play a collection of songs that we’ve recorded with a great producer, ‘Oz Craggs’, so we already know them like the back of our hands and they translate really well into a live setting.

What plans do you have for the future?

To carry on writing and playing music that transcends genres and pushes the boundaries of what a “guitar band” should be.

After I finish my pizza of course.
