What inspired the name of the band? What are your influences and are they the same as when you started out?

Blood of Angels is a name I have had rattling around in my head for a while.  I was finally able to use it.  It is a metaphor for the coming end to organized religion.  All faiths have some sort of servants of god that do his bidding.  The bleeding of them is a symbolic end to this mythology.  It is also just a good name for a metal band.  Some of our influences are Iron Maiden, Slipknot, Slayer, Dark Tranquillity, Pantera, and Lamb of God

How do you approach song writing?

We begin the song writing process mostly off my guitar.  I come up with the original concept of the song, then with Jonathan and Maggots input we put the finishing touches on the music.  This coming album, Randy will be doing most of the heavy lifting on the lyrics.  We have done concept albums.  Our last album “Failure of Faith” was a concept album based on the three main Monotheistic religions of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam.  The first half of the album discusses how these three faiths came into being.  The second half of the album are songs about how these three religions have manipulated humanity to commit atrocities in god’s name.  Our upcoming album will be dealing with different ways how various cultures mourn loss and death.

Why do you write the sort of music that you do?

There is something deep and dark within all of us.  Some feel it more than others, and they’re some people who allow that darkness to consume them.  I have always used metal music to express that side of myself in a way that is healthy and constructive.

How do you decide what songs to perform live?

We decide based on how long of set we can perform.  Most of the time we are the opening band and are given 30-minute set.  That length of a set only gives us time for five or six songs.  For a set that short we bring in our heaviest songs, and one cover song.

What plans do you have for the future?

Currently, we are enjoying our break for the holidays.  Next month we will be getting back together to be writing and recording our next album.  After the release we will be hitting the road for a couple of years.  That is my favourite thing in this business is getting onstage.
