An interview with Blitz Union

An interview with Blitz Union

What inspired the name of the band? What are your influences?

The second part of the name ‘Union’ speaks for itself. Besides doing music— we are trying to create an experience, a movement and a natural union. A group of like-minded people who care about the whole, who care about life in general and do not focus exclusively on their personal profit.
The first part of the name ‘Blitz’ is directly connected to the overall story of Blitz Union which we are not yet ready to fully reveal. The only thing that I can share with you now is that the story of Blitz Union began way earlier before the official launch in 2019. In fact, even during the time our parents were teenagers themselves. After a few miraculous discoveries, signs and messages of a mysterious entity (“Mr. Blitz”?) started arising…

How do you approach songwriting? Are there any themes that you are keen to explore when you start off?

I usually bring some lyric ideas with a very simple instrumental. If everyone likes it, we do the general arrangements together. Once the main structure of the song is done and agreed, Schtorm (bassist, producer) starts to work on the final production of the song.
In regards to the themes of our songs and inspiration itself – It is again directly connected to the overall story of Blitz Union. There is a background “research” of  a mysterious entity (let’s call it/him “Mr.Blitz” for now) which was actually the main reason for Blitz Union’s foundation. There were a lot of unusual events which happened to me which led to some kind of communication with this force.  We are still learning about what it means and going to reveal how those events influenced our music. There will be a lot to be found out by fans around the Union and our story which we can’t wait to start sharing.

Why do you write the sort of music that you do?

We find this fusion of Rock music and EDM elements very exciting. We enjoy the freedom during the creation process. There are so many options how you can approach a song by combining those two styles. It’s fun.

How do you decide what songs to perform live and how do you transpose them into that live setting?

In our case it is simple. Since we have only 10 songs officially released so far, we play all of them (Laughter). So no need for big decisions/discussions yet.
But when it comes to the transposition of our songs into the “live” form – we try to keep it simple and focus on the arrangements which will support the overall energy of the song. I think our live sound is a bit heavier than our studio sound.

What plans do you have for the future?

We just released the last song of our second EP “Not Proud”  which has
closed another chapter of Blitz Union.
Now we are focusing with all our force to finish our first, debut full album which we
would like to release this year already as well. But you can expect more of Blitz
Union’s music in various forms to be released throughout the whole year.
