Airforce, a band spawned during the New Wave of British Heavy Metal, and featuring original Iron Maiden drummer, Doug Sampson, return with a fascinating new album entitled Strike Hard which is sure to capture the imagination.

“Fight,” opens up proceedings with some solid riff work, whilst the vocals are impressive. The mission statement of the band is set out quite prominently in the first few moments of the song, a call to arms and action.

“Die For You,” is a riff sandwich. The song packs a meaty punch and delivers on the promise that echoed in its early movements. A solid melody leads the way as the vocals sing their lament.

“Son Of The Damned,” rolls with the punches, another fantastic riff based song that carves a niche into the listener’s mind. The vocals weave a melody around the listener and engage in subtle tricks.

“The Reaper,” moves with pace and agility, turning the dial ever so slightly and delivering a fluctuating burst of light.

“Finest Hour,” a simple call to arms that delivers a lot. Filled with energy and speed, it takes control and shapes the narrative, allowing listeners to join the band on this journey.

“Don’t Look In Her Eyes,” engages in a subtle shift. A start and stop motiff that captures the changing plains of time with great speed and agility.

“I Feel Your Pain,” moves with swagger. A song that slowly shifts the balance between aggression and seduction. The vocal lines caress the listener and lull them in, whilst the riffs push them toward the edge.

“War Games,” slows things down slightly, bringing with it a sense of foreboding. As the song truly kicks off the listener is treated to something truly special. A mixture of classic metal vocalising and new wave textures.

“Band of Brothers,” is an anthem and a half. A song that captures a certain sort of spirit and bottles it before releasing it for the whole world to see and enjoy.

“The War Inside,” is reflective of the song title. It mixes brittle melodies with hard aggression. A song that is sure to get people going when performed live.

“Faith Healer,” is the bombastic finale. A song that takes everything that has gone before and makes it ten times better.

The album is out on 4th September via Pitch Black Records.
