Sunday night saw a horde of metal fans travel down to The Lexington in Islington, London for a triple header of metal from Patty Gurday, Scardust and Pythia. A night to remember for all involved.

Patty Gurdy started things off, dazzling fans with a impressive performance. The hurdy gurdy is such a unique instrument, making the listener think there are several people performing instead of just one. Stand outs for the night included a cover of “Molly Malone,” alongside “Sweet Dreams,” the best highlight was the crowd chants on “Run,” Patty is sure to get a bigger following following this show and deservedly so.

Israel’s own Scardust were next on. And boy did they deliver a show. Performing  songs from their debut album, they got the crowd going, there was chanting, singing and the odd scream as well. “Tantibus,” delivered a sharp push to the face to get things going. “Eyes of Agony,” and “Dials,” took things to an entirely new level, which brought some satisfaction. New songs “Mist,” and “Gone,” provide promise for the upcoming album. And of course, finishing with “Sands of Time,” was always going to produce the most deafening roar of the set. Brilliantly done.

Headliners Pythia came out strong. Performing their first gig since the release of their newest album, they delivered a sharp rendition of “An Earthly Lament,” before they moved strongly onto the next big smashers “Just a Lie,” and “Ancient Soul,” slowly but surely the crowd got going as well. There was headbanging galore and plenty of singing to go along with the raucous performance going on stage. “The King’s Ruin,” and “Army of the Damned,” got the biggest roars of the night. “Sarah,” was a fitting closer, and showed just how good the band truly are.

A great night at The Lexington.
